Living Forever Today

Just so you're not disappointed, The Happy Art is not another adorable blog about Etsy-like creativity, or how to be a housewife and cook like Giada for a family of eight on a tight budget. I can't make poetry out of frozen lumps of Canadian soil because I live in a ghetto suburb of Vallejo, CA and most people wonder why we don't have bars on our windows. Rap would be more appropriate anyway.
Don't get me wrong- I love beauty and creativity! I even feebly attempt to be creative and do beautiful things in my home, but then reality wakes me up and I realize I love my little furry cats with their claws and nasty little hair balls, despite the fact that the back of the sofa looks like it's been through a paper shredder and I'm still cleaning up vomit even though I haven't had a young child in the house for years. I love my home when my kiddos' friends are sprawled all over those shredded sofas, and coffee cups with their sticky milk and sugar rings cover the table, and brownie crumbs litter the kitchen floor and the sink is full of dishes and I have guys showing me how many brownies they can layer with caramel and marshmallow and then fit in their mouth. Because that is what The Happy Art is to me: it's about attending to the mess of today and loving it while reflecting and purposefully focusing on the eternal- Christ.
